Re: Ronnie James Dio passed away...

Re: Ronnie James Dio passed away...
Quelques tres beaux hommages sur Dio
Singer/guitarist Michael Poulsen of Danish metal rock 'n' rollers VOLBEAT has released the following statement regarding the passing of legendary heavy metal singer Ronnie James Dio (DIO, HEAVEN & HELL, BLACK SABBATH, RAINBOW):
"I came off stage in Zagreb with the biggest smile on my face because I/VOLBEAT had just been playing a great show with METALLICA. My drummer Jon Larsen was the first guy in the dressing room after the show, and he looked at me with a very sad face and said: Michael, Dio is dead. And I went into a black empty hole in my mind. WHAT, FUUUUUUUUCK,' were my first words.
"Jon knew I was , and still am, a very big Dio fan. It almost felt like the heavy metal scene music died that second and everything will be over. Because WHO the hell's gonna take over the greatest voice of all time in heavy metal music history? HE WAS THE CHOSEN ONE, THE BEST, AND FOR REAL.
"For me Dio was the greatest songwriter and frontman a heavy rock band could wish for. He sang like he was 20 years old to the end, I was asking myself every time I saw him live, how the hell does he do that?
"Dio was the was the first heavy thing I was listening to. His work in ELF, DIO, RAINBOW, BLACK SABBATH/HEAVEN & HELL truly inspired me and will do for the rest of my life.
"There was only one king of rock 'n' roll = Elvis Presley. And there was only one KING of heavy rock music = Ronnie James Dio. And there will be no one like him again, his throne will be empty.
"Dio will be missed forever.
"May you rest in peace, Ronnie. We will all proud keep the horns up and the Dio flag high.
"I wish you a good and safe journey. Follow the rainbow.
"With love and respect."

KISS paid homage to legendary heavy metal singer Ronnie James Dio during last night's (Monday, May 17) concert in Geneva, Switzerland. Fan-filmed video footage of the moment can be viewed below.
KISS was one of a number of rock and metal artists around the world paid tribute during the last 48 hours to Dio, who died of stomach cancer on Sunday (May 16) at the age of 67. The singer, who performed with BLACK SABBATH, RAINBOW, ELF and his own solo band, was widely hailed as one of the most influential voices in heavy metal, not to mention one of the most down-to-earth, friendly and giving personalities in the music business.
"We mourn the tragic passing of the great Ronnie James Dio," KISS said in a statement. "In addition to his powerhouse vocal ability, Ronnie was a true gentleman who always emanated great warmth and friendship to us and everyone around him. We will miss him."

Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister of MOTÖRHEAD has released the following statement regarding the passing of legendary heavy metal singer Ronnie James Dio (DIO, HEAVEN & HELL, BLACK SABBATH, RAINBOW):
"I'm truly upset, especially since he seemed to be rallying at the [Revolver] Golden Gods show [on April 8, 2010 at Club Nokia in Los Angeles, California].
"Bon voyage, Ronnie. Rest in peace.
"I'm devastated."
--------------------------------
Corey Taylor of SLIPKNOT and STONE SOUR released a statement to Billboard.com regarding the passing of legendary heavy metal singer Ronnie James Dio (DIO, HEAVEN & HELL, BLACK SABBATH, RAINBOW). He called Dio "one of the strongest, purist and consistent singers of all time. Ronnie sang like he lived — all out, from the heart, with so much honesty and joy. He was a great man with a smile and a handshake for fans and peers alike. He spoke his mind and stood his ground for decades. I will miss him dearly."
In a separate interview with The Pulse of Radio, Corey said, "When I got that news that [Ronnie] had passed away, man, it seriously — it broke my heart. It broke it in two. Because honestly, I just feel like there will never be another Ronnie James Dio. He had such a pure voice — and still singing his ass off. I just know he'll be missed, and I will miss him as well."
---------------------------------
SLAYER guitarist Kerry King, who listened to "Man on the Silver Mountain" by Ritchie Blackmore's RAINBOW as a teenager, told Billboard.com that being able to meet Ronnie James Dio was one of his treasured memories. "Few people have had the ability to carry a song like Dio, literally demanding your attention as he effortlessly recreated live the amazing things he did on record," King said. "It's odd how things get taken from you quickly...I just saw him a month ago. I know I was lucky to have known Ronnie. One of the nicest guys in the business, without a doubt. He will be hugely missed."

Guitarist/vocalist Matt Heafy of Florida-based metallers TRIVIUM has released the following message regarding the passing of legendary heavy metal singer Ronnie James Dio (DIO, HEAVEN & HELL, BLACK SABBATH, RAINBOW):
"TRIVIUM had the privilege of meeting Dio while touring with HEAVEN & HELL in Japan in 2007. We were just happy to be on the shows and didn’t expect to spend any time with any of the guys.
"Every single night of that tour HEAVEN & HELL blew our minds; we were fans in awe of how good they were. They had it all and to watch a group of musicians that deep into their careers so absolutely on top of their game like that was inspiring.
"One night after a show in Nagoya, I was able to pop in real quick to say 'hey' to Dio in his dressing room.
"I've been able to meet many heroes of mine in my life, but few have made impression on me like Ronnie James. He greeted me not as a support bandmember, but he welcomed me as a fellow musician and performer. He gave me a hug, invited a couple of us into his room where we all sat and talked and drank wine together.
"I remember our conversation crystal clear to this day. I told him how I met Bruce Dickinson on his BBC radio show and was asking Bruce about vocals and vocal techniques, and I shared with Dio that Bruce felt that I had started to develop my own vocal style and with work someday would further develop a stylistic similarity to Dio. Dio smiled and chatted about how he knew that Bruce was a fan of his voice, and from there we were able to just relax and talk shop about vocals and singing.
"Although it was a quick visit, Ronnie made me feel at home and was a really sweet dude. He gave us props, we finished our wine, we hugged and said, 'See ya tomorrow.'
"It was amazing that I received vocal coaching from quite possibly the greatest metal voice of all time.
"I am truly grateful for the time he gave me and his personal insight into our shared craft. For that I will always be thankful."

Re: Ronnie James Dio passed away...
A sickening religious cult are planning to picket the upcoming public memorial service for Ronnie James Dio.
Metal Hammer are both sickened and outraged to learn that a Baptist
church are planning to protest at the funeral of Ronnie James Dio.
This disgusting plan from the Westboro Baptist Church, who have
already made a name for themselves in the States through their
homophobic hatred and picketing of funerals, is advertised on their
website’s schedule (which carries the url GodHatesFags.com).
These mis-informed, ill-guided, moronic fuckwits wrongfully accuse
Ronnie of Satan worship and encouraging violence of every form, in a
post filled with hatred and ridiculousness.
Should you wish to read the post in full, we’ve provided it at the
bottom of the page. Just be aware that it carries enough bullshit
nonsense within it to make Gandhi want to kick off.
Blabbermouth report that this Kansas-based cult last year filed a
legal brief that confirms that they “believe it is their duty to
protest and picket at certain events, including funerals, to promote
their religious message: ‘That God’s promise of love and heaven for
those who obey him in this life is counterbalanced by God’s wrath and
hell for those who do not obey him.’”
There isn’t a word in any language that sums up these low-life scumbags so we’ll stick with this one – cunts.
Here is their ‘brief’ in full:
“WBC to picket this public memorial to remind you who worship that old Serpent, Satan, that your time is very short.
“You know 67 year old, Satan-worshiping (or at least one of their
enablers) Ronnie James Dio (of showing his devil horns to the world
each time he goes in public) Black Sabbath fame is dead, right? We’ll
be there!
“Just because the chances of any of God’s elect being amongst this
group of heavy metal sycophants is slim to none does not mean they
should not get some good words.
“Yes, it is true that Ozzy Osbourne did “accidentally” bite off the
head of a bat, but THAT is the least of their sins (little nasties!),
they currently do not do that, but they throw raw meat to the audience
and encourage violence of EVERY FORM!
“Here you have the list of admitted sins of this now dead and in hell pervert:
“1) He hates his neighbor(s) starting with Ozzy Osbourne, and continuing down to his pornography star niece Gen Padova!
“2) He hates God. Pay especial attention to the fact that he changed
his original sir name from Padova to Dio, which means God in Italian.
“3)Ronnie the simpleton enabled, and encouraged Sorceries:
everything he was about including the little finger horn thing (he got
this from his mother which is an incantation to ward off the “evil
eye”) to the drugs, bloody raw meat and his fellowship with those
pentagon necklace wearing freakish band members.
“Yes, Ronnie James Padova (NOT DIO) is currently residing in hell.
When all those who worship him and his false gods meet him in hell it
will be just like this: Isaiah 2:12 For the day of the LORD of hosts
shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one
that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low: Isaiah 14:11 Thy pomp
is brought down to the grave, and the noise of thy viols: the worm is
spread under thee, and the worms cover thee.
“Praise God all ye, His people. The Great Day of the Lord draws nigh. AMEN!”
